DHCP Construction Log Dec 21, 2009
The work on the building continues at a steady though somewhat slower pace than I would like to have seen. The contractor erecting the building shell, JPB Construction, is working steadily on the project. They are making the best use of the time to keep all aspects moving, depending on the weather conditions. Safety is a primary concern and as we get deeper into the fall (and as of today, officially winter) the weather conditions are a significant factor in the project's day to day progress. Thankfully beginning tomorrow the days start to get longer.
Installing 40' 8" sheets of steel roofing in 25mph plus winds is not a task that should be attempted. The contractor moves back and forth between roof steel and siding and other detail installation. As you will see by today's pictures, they are beginning the roof installation across the valley sections of the main wing of the building. Work also continues on wainscoting and siding.
The missing windows came on Friday PM and were all installed by the end of the workday. You will note the building wrap has been installed around the pavilion area and enclosed it for the winter.
The roofing steel will continue and the expectation is that all roofing will be completed in a few days and the ridge vent and cap will be installed giving us a dry building.
At the present time I do not see any risk in our scheduled work that must be completed to achieve a temporary C of O for our summer program.
I have a few people who are available to do volunteer work in January. At the present time, I am planning on a ceiling insulation installation effort during the later part of January. I would be happy to hear from any who would like to volunteer to spend a few days on this task in January. Contact me via email at duncan3@rochester.rr.com if you would be available for this task.
Have a great Christmas and continue to pray for cooperative weather and safety for our crew.
