DHCP Construction Log Dec 31, 2009

We ended the 2009 construction on this project today at 1:30 PM. As you will see by the latest pictures, the roof is completed with the exception of 2 pieces of steel on the northeast corner on the main wing of the building. Those missing pieces are scheduled to arrive on Jan 5th. The only work remaining on "the lid" is then the ridge vents, ridge caps and some of the rake corner pieces. The birds mouth covers at the rake corners are all formed up and ready for installation. That will complete the work on "the lid". We will then be water tight inside the building.

As you will see in the pictures, the main entrance porch is installed and the trim is almost complete. The wooden posts will be finished off with white PVC fluted covers.

Other work continues on the siding. Almost all of the blue wainscoating is complete and you will see in the pictures that progress continues on the white siding. Note the picture of 2 workers of the crew placing a piece of the white steel in place. Are you glad you are not doing that in 19 degree weather with a 15 mph wind. These guys are tough.

The siding then remains as the primary outside task. They will try to get the west side complete first. This will allow us to bring the site work contractor back in to do the outside grades on that side, install the DI's and storm sewer lines and do the rough grade contours.

I am still keeping close track of progress in hopes of being ready to use some of the volunteers in the later part of January to do work on the inside of the building.

Please continue your prayers for cooperating weather and for the safety of the crew.
